Opeth... what a band. Never have I heard such beautifull yet horrible music, I have been a big fan of theirs for years now, top band, check em out if you aint done already! Im listening to them now on Spotify, which is one of the best sites ever, all the music you want, (well mostly!!) streamed free and instantly, with the ability to discover an artists back catalogue too!! WIN!

Well Ive started work on the vocal tracks, hard work! Good job I flippin love it! A couple of the older tracks we wrote have had a little bit of re working. I had to entirely re-write one too, which was good to do as it was getting a bit stale for me, but its got my attention back now, an it sounds sweeeet!

Had a little creative writing moment the other week too. Wraped myself a fatty, an chilled on one of the fields near a lake , got some nice inspirational shiz goin on!

I dunno if youve been checkin the latest from Sa-Da-Ko, but word of various reports accross the north west UK have reached our ears, that the dead are returning to life! Rumours of a 5 strong group of vigilantes are hazy at best, however they are reportedly armed and considered dangerous to the undead. If you come accross this group of men, the best advice would be to stick with em, follow them, but stay outa the way of the sharp edges of their weapons! this band of mercs, have more kills and experience under their belts than any other group we have heard of. The date that its all supposed to end is 30th October, however there is some usefull information on the site, including the location a safe house, and we hear Sa-Da-Ko will be at the head of operations, so get reading before its too late!

N Shiz...

Right, not been updating for a while, been lazy, you can check out the Sa-Da-Ko vid progress, and find out all about the photo shoot and what not here...

Did some twisted stuff at Aku last night, sounded pretty odd!! It was fun for me, as it was a bit different to stuff I usually get up to, a little bit of improvised voice acting, layering and stacking synths to get some horrid sounds, toy pianos, tannoy systems, vocoder filth, zombies... its all there, and a little disturbing! It will be between tracks on our forthcoming album, to add a little atmosphere, and to keep to the "horror audioised" theme.

Other than that, everything else is business as usual... business and whiskey! I saw District 9 the other day.... refreshingly brilliant! Check it out yo!

got practice tonight, first time in a couple of weeks, lookin foreward to it, an Im also lookin forward to this Due for release on 26/02/2010....

catch ya later!

Stuff and things...

Hello again, just gonna chat a bit more shiz cos Im bored an just got proper knocked out on that bloody UFC game on the Xbox!!
Thought Id talk a bit about my vocal stylings for those of you who wanna know! Presuming youve been checkin out my work, most will be familliar with the more extreme end of my vocally spectrum, i.e. Sa-Da-Ko, which is what I have the most fun doin.
Metal vocals are a great release of emotions, as well as a good way of expressing something which the listener would have to struggle to ignore, thats if they can understand it!!! This fact in its self does not really bother me, Ive lost count of the number of times people have asked me just what the hell Im goin on about, (An thats when Im not even on stage!!) if you care enough to wanna know the lyrical content of a metal track, you gotta dig a bit deeper. Its not there for you on a plate as some pop or rock song would offer you! To me, metal vocals are another rythm, an added complexity over an already well rounded sound, and also there to keep the crowd rockin amongst everything else. Metal is, first and foremost, about the music, and has always been such. Because of the harshness of the sound with the guitars and drums, a singing style would not neceserily work all the time, a more aggressive vocal style fits nicely, (Or nastily!) and compliments the sound far greater in my opinion.

My appreciation for different styles of music I think has opened my eyes to slightly different ways of using the voice as an instrument, all of which collect in that dark corner of my brain, along with all the rest of my inspiration, ready to be spat out with venom, wether on stage or in the studio!

When creating or performing tracks I like to give it everything I have. Obviously the live performances benefit from a visual as well as an audiable point of view. But a full force recording in a studio will come accross much better than a half arsed, effects laden attempt! you have to get whatever you wanna convey to come out with feelings you project through sound from the voice!
So if you havnt already done so, check out my bands an that, an keep it brutal! Im gonna eat some raw meat with shards of rusty steel in it, washed down with a nice glass of vinegar an caustic soda.... I gotta go look after my voice!

01

Right, here it is, my first blog! Im gonna be trying to keep this as regular as possible, an keep everyone up to date with whats goin down with the projects Im working on.
Quick bit of background... Sa-Da-Ko is the main musical project Im involved with, I was lucky enough to hook up with Simo, (The genius behind it all) at the birth of Sa-Da-Ko in the later half of 2007, an we worked together to create some dirty ass tunes! Soon after completing work on these tunes, we took Sa-Da-Ko live, and rocked the shit outa UK venues, before, unfortunately, the band as was, parted ways. and members went on to other projects, ( check em all out!!!

But that was not the end. Sa-Da-Ko festered and grew in hiding, unknown to the outside world, feeding on emotions until it was strong enough to bare its metal teeth again, rising once more from its death-like slumber, stronger, harder, and more determined than ever.

So the demo tracks are up, and the new lineup confirmed. Our drummer has just spent a long weekend at Aku studio, recording his drum tracks, and over the next few weeks, the guitars and bass will be layed down, ready for me to spew out a load of venom on! Ill update soon an let you know what Im up to
So thats it for the mo, keep followin my progress, and Ill speak soon!
